Creating self-contained art is rather challenging and it does not bring any other satisfaction to the artist than that of having the finished product at hand. The challenge its creation represents is not appreciated because it does not let the art lover wonder. For the artist, however, the beauty of it was precisely in that challenge. There is a conflict, however. Artists by definition are art lovers. The riddle is not to be solved, but simply to be admired.  Self-contained art is but an attempt of being.

p.s. Note that the above exposed is not exclusive of any, but rather inclusive of all types of art.
