Candlelit Hope

There are times when we unconsciously, or consciously perhaps, desire something so much that it actually occurs. Subliminally, but it does. Hope. The worst kind of torture and it is self-perpetrated. It seems so stupid, for lack of a better word, that we would ignite this candle called hope and keep it lit when all it does is light a road on which we took a few steps at some point, but which has faded into oblivion. The light is hardly enough to help find the previously enthusiastic now misguided steps. But if the road is found, then another candle is lit. One which should help us walk the road all the way to the end. If we make it, then we can hope what is at the end is worth the candlelit walk. Otherwise, it was all a waste of time, yet it certainly provided good entertainment.
